Questions about Vanillette

Is everything really made by hand? Every piece — from the first shaping to the final glaze — is made by hand in my studio in Haarlem. No two pieces are ever exactly alike, which is part of what makes each one worth keeping.

What makes Vanillette different from other ceramic brands? Vanillette is made for the everyday table — not just for special occasions. Each piece is made slowly, in small batches, with the intention that it will be used, loved, and eventually passed on. The French instinct that beauty at the table is a daily decision, not a luxury — that is what drives everything I make.

Are your ceramics sustainable? Small batches by nature mean less waste. I work with natural materials, make only what I can make well, and design pieces meant to last for years rather than seasons. Buying handmade is already one of the most sustainable choices you can make.

Are the pieces dishwasher safe? Yes — though I'll admit I always handwash mine. It takes an extra minute and they stay beautiful longer. But dishwasher safe, absolutely.

Can I use them in the microwave? Yes, all Vanillette pieces are microwave safe.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo? Close — but not identical. Slight variations in glaze, texture, and shape are natural to the handmade process and honestly part of the charm. The piece you receive will be unique, which is the whole point.

Do you take custom or personalised orders? Occasionally, yes. I love making pieces with a word, a date, or a small motif that means something. Reach out and tell me what you have in mind — I'm always happy to discuss what's possible.

What if my piece arrives damaged? It rarely happens — I pack everything with a great deal of care — but if it does, contact me within 48 hours with a photo and I will make it right. No questions asked.

Where do you ship from and how long does it take? All orders ship from Haarlem, Netherlands. I ship within the EU and do my best to send within 5 to 7 business days. Once your order is on its way you'll receive a tracking number. Because everything is made in small batches, some pieces ship sooner than others.

How do I care for my ceramics? Handwashing is always best — a little care goes a long way. Avoid moving pieces directly from the fridge to a hot oven or microwave. Treat them well and they will last you a very long time. That is rather the idea. 🤍

Still have a question? Reach out at any time — I'd love to hear from you.
